Parent/Player Soccer Meeting Wednesday

There will be a soccer meeting on Wednesday, February 13, at 6:30 pm in the commons area for parents and any students in grades 9-12 that are interested in playing soccer this spring.

Basketball Holiday Tournaments

The Elm Creek Holiday Tournament is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, December 28-29 (see schedule below). Gibbon will be the visiting team in the 1st round. Admission for students and adults is $5–only tournament passes will be accepted. Go Buffs!

No JV Girls Basketball TONIGHT

Due to limited players, there will be no junior varsity girls basketball game tonight versus Ravenna.

Basketball Games Go On As Planned

The basketball games at Central City are going to be played as planned. The junior varsity games begin at 4:30 pm.

Wrestling Team Not Traveling Today

Due to the impending weather and concerns about safety, the wrestling team will NOT be traveling to Columbus Lakeview today.

Girls Basketball Game Adjustment

The girls junior varsity team will only play 2 quarters against Overton on Tuesday, December 4, due to limited numbers for Overton. This means the varsity game will probably start earlier than the original 7:15 pm time listed on the calendar.

No School–Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school for students or staff Wednesday-Friday, November 21-23. Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving break!

Basketball Jamboree Monday

On Monday, November 19, the girls and boys basketball teams will host Southern Valley in a Basketball Jamboree. The girls game begins at 6:00 pm followed by the boys game at 7:30 pm. Admission prices are $5 adults and $4 for students. NO PASSES WILL BE ACCEPTED as all proceeds go to the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Wrestling Parents Meeting

There will be a wrestling parents meeting on Monday, November 19, at 6:30 pm in Coach Andersen’s room. All parents of high school wrestlers are encouraged to attend.

Time Change Junior High Girls Basketball Game

The junior high girls basketball game with Kenesaw tomorrow (Tuesday, November 6) will begin at 2:00 pm. This is a change to the original schedule due to Kenesaw competing in the football playoffs. The first game will be just 3 quarters; the second game will start at approximately 2:45 pm.

Jr. High Wrestling Calendar Change

The Junior High Wrestling Quad at Elm Creek is Thursday, November 8th, NOT Friday, November 9. This is a change to the calendar.  It will begin at 5 pm.

Subdistrict Volleyball Pairings Announced

Volleyball subdistricts are Monday-Tuesday, October 29-30, and will be played at Grand Island Senior High (west gym). Gibbon is in the C1-9 subdistrict along with Grand Island Central Catholic, Minden, Kearney Catholic and Adams Central. Gibbon will play Adams Central on Monday at 4:30 pm; the winner of that game will play Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:30 pm. Click here to view the complete bracket:  C1-9 Subdistrict Volleyball. State Cross Country Meet Information

The cross country teams will be competing at the NSAA Class D State Championships today at Kearney Country Club. The Class D girls race will start on hole 4, east side of the line, at 12:00 pm and the boys race begins on hole 2, east side of the line, at 1:00 pm. The awards ceremony will be held at the UNK Health and Fitness Center at approximately 2:30 pm. Medals are awarded to the top 15 individuals  and top 2 teams. Good luck — Go Buffs!

Friday Football–Listen LIVE

This Friday, October 19, the varsity football game versus Wood River will be broadcast live on Classic Hits Power 99 (98.9 FM) radio. Pregame will begin at 6:30 pm with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm. You may also listen online at www.platteriverpreps.com. Don’t miss the action. Go Buffs!

Cross Country Teams State Bound

Congratulations to both the girls and boys cross country teams for qualifying for the state meet! The boys team won the district championship and the girls team earned runner-up at Cambridge last Thursday. The state meet will be held on Friday, October 19, at the Kearney Country Club. The Class D girls race will begin at 12:00 pm and the boys race will run at 1:00 pm. The awards ceremony will be held at 2:30 at the UNK Sports Complex. Good luck and Go Buffs!

District Wrestling Host School Announced

NSAA has announced that Boone Central will the the host school for the district wrestling tournament this year.

JV Football Game Cancelled

The junior varsity football game scheduled for today, October 8, at Kearney Catholic has been cancelled due to field conditions.

Grub Grill At Football Game

This Friday, October 12, the football game versus GICC will be played at Grand Island Northwest High School. The GICC Dance Team will be hosting a Grub Grill before the kickoff. They will be serving chili, cinnamon rolls, and a drink (pop, water, coffee) for $5. They would appreciate your support if attending the game.

LPC Volleyball Tournament

Gibbon will play Ravenna at St. Paul on Monday, October 8, at 6:00 pm in the Lou-Platte Conference Volleyball Tournament.  The winner will advance to play St. Paul at 7:00 pm.  Click here to view a complete tournament bracket.

LPC Cross Country Champions and Runner Up

Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams for their outstanding performances at the Lou Platte Conference Cross Country Meet held at Ord yesterday. The girls are LPC Conference Champions and the boys are LPC Conference Runner Up. Individually for the boys, Nathan Holcomb–1st, Kaleb Pickel–2nd, Izaiah Gomez–9th; for the girls, Jade Bentley–8th, Lindsey Wilkens–9th, and Alissa Bailey–10th. Congratulations to the coaches and all the runners!
