Friday Football–Listen LIVE

This Friday, October 19, the varsity football game versus Wood River will be broadcast live on Classic Hits Power 99 (98.9 FM) radio. Pregame will begin at 6:30 pm with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm. You may also listen online at www.platteriverpreps.com. Don’t miss the action. Go Buffs!

Cross Country Teams State Bound

Congratulations to both the girls and boys cross country teams for qualifying for the state meet! The boys team won the district championship and the girls team earned runner-up at Cambridge last Thursday. The state meet will be held on Friday, October 19, at the Kearney Country Club. The Class D girls race will begin at 12:00 pm and the boys race will run at 1:00 pm. The awards ceremony will be held at 2:30 at the UNK Sports Complex. Good luck and Go Buffs!

District Wrestling Host School Announced

NSAA has announced that Boone Central will the the host school for the district wrestling tournament this year.

JV Football Game Cancelled

The junior varsity football game scheduled for today, October 8, at Kearney Catholic has been cancelled due to field conditions.

Grub Grill At Football Game

This Friday, October 12, the football game versus GICC will be played at Grand Island Northwest High School. The GICC Dance Team will be hosting a Grub Grill before the kickoff. They will be serving chili, cinnamon rolls, and a drink (pop, water, coffee) for $5. They would appreciate your support if attending the game.

LPC Volleyball Tournament

Gibbon will play Ravenna at St. Paul on Monday, October 8, at 6:00 pm in the Lou-Platte Conference Volleyball Tournament.  The winner will advance to play St. Paul at 7:00 pm.  Click here to view a complete tournament bracket.

LPC Cross Country Champions and Runner Up

Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams for their outstanding performances at the Lou Platte Conference Cross Country Meet held at Ord yesterday. The girls are LPC Conference Champions and the boys are LPC Conference Runner Up. Individually for the boys, Nathan Holcomb–1st, Kaleb Pickel–2nd, Izaiah Gomez–9th; for the girls, Jade Bentley–8th, Lindsey Wilkens–9th, and Alissa Bailey–10th. Congratulations to the coaches and all the runners!

Homecoming Royalty

Congratulations to this year’s Homecoming Royalty. Queen candidates are Jacqueline Rivas, Jocelyn Shea, and Jessica Tamayo. King candidates are Izaiah Gomez, Sam Kucera, and River Smith. Coronation will take place after the football game on Friday night.

Tuesday Volleyball Game Time Adjustment

The junior varsity and varsity volleyball games at home with Overton on Tuesday, October 2, will start earlier than originally scheduled as the freshmen will play just one set beginning at 5:00. Please make this time adjustment and plan accordingly.

Early Dismissal Friday

On Friday, September 21, there will be a 3:00 p.m. dismissal due to the early kickoff (3:30 pm) of the football game with Bridgeport. Buses will run the regular routes at 3:00 pm. The schedule for students in grades 7-12 will be a regular schedule except that periods 7 and 8 will switch. Advisory period 7 will be the last period of the day and will be shortened for the 3:00 pm dismissal.

Calendar Change

The girls golf dual scheduled for next Thursday, September 20, with Kearney Catholic has been cancelled.

Varsity Volleyball Tournament Saturday

Gibbon is hosting the 4-team round robin varsity volleyball tournament this Saturday. Games begin at 9:00 a.m. in both gyms. Gibbon will play Burwell in Game 1, followed by Game 2 against Southern Valley, and Game 3 with Centura. All Gibbon games will be played in the high school (south) gym. Admission is $5 for students and adults. No passes will be accepted.

Junior Varsity Football Game Cancelled

Junior Varsity Football has been cancelled for today–Tuesday, September 4. Junior High Football is still on for 4:30 this afternoon.

Ron Priebe Cross Country Invite Results

Congratulations to the girls cross country team for winning the Ron Priebe Invite and to the boys team for finishing as runner-up. Nathan Holcomb was the individual champion in the boys race with a time of 18:40. Great job, Buffs!

Tonight’s varsity football game at Hershey is being LiveStreamed via their YouTube channel. Check it out by searching Hershey Panther YouTube Channel or the Hershey Facebook page. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Hershey.

Calendar Change

The varsity volleyball triangular scheduled for Friday, August 24, at the State Fair has been moved to Centura on Tuesday, August 28.  There will be varsity games only.   Gibbon will play Broken Bow at 6:00 pm and Centura at 7:00 pm.

 

Volleyball Help Needed

Football Gatorade Scrimmage
