Homecoming Royalty

Congratulations to this year’s Homecoming Royalty. Queen candidates are Jacqueline Rivas, Jocelyn Shea, and Jessica Tamayo. King candidates are Izaiah Gomez, Sam Kucera, and River Smith. Coronation will take place after the football game on Friday night.

Tuesday Volleyball Game Time Adjustment

The junior varsity and varsity volleyball games at home with Overton on Tuesday, October 2, will start earlier than originally scheduled as the freshmen will play just one set beginning at 5:00. Please make this time adjustment and plan accordingly.

Early Dismissal Friday

On Friday, September 21, there will be a 3:00 p.m. dismissal due to the early kickoff (3:30 pm) of the football game with Bridgeport. Buses will run the regular routes at 3:00 pm. The schedule for students in grades 7-12 will be a regular schedule except that periods 7 and 8 will switch. Advisory period 7 will be the last period of the day and will be shortened for the 3:00 pm dismissal.

The girls golf dual scheduled for next Thursday, September 20, with Kearney Catholic has been cancelled.

Varsity Volleyball Tournament Saturday

Gibbon is hosting the 4-team round robin varsity volleyball tournament this Saturday. Games begin at 9:00 a.m. in both gyms. Gibbon will play Burwell in Game 1, followed by Game 2 against Southern Valley, and Game 3 with Centura. All Gibbon games will be played in the high school (south) gym. Admission is $5 for students and adults. No passes will be accepted.

Friday Football–Listen Live ESPN 1550 AM

This Friday, September 7, the varsity football game at Hastings St. Cecilia will be broadcast live on ESPN-Hastings 1550 AM. Pregame will begin at 6:45 pm with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm. You may also listen online at–Catch the Action. Go Buffs!

Junior Varsity Football Game Cancelled

Junior Varsity Football has been cancelled for today–Tuesday, September 4. Junior High Football is still on for 4:30 this afternoon.

Ron Priebe Cross Country Invite Results

Congratulations to the girls cross country team for winning the Ron Priebe Invite and to the boys team for finishing as runner-up. Nathan Holcomb was the individual champion in the boys race with a time of 18:40. Great job, Buffs!

Tonight’s varsity football game at Hershey is being LiveStreamed via their YouTube channel. Check it out by searching Hershey Panther YouTube Channel or the Hershey Facebook page. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Hershey.

Calendar Change

The varsity volleyball triangular scheduled for Friday, August 24, at the State Fair has been moved to Centura on Tuesday, August 28.  There will be varsity games only.   Gibbon will play Broken Bow at 6:00 pm and Centura at 7:00 pm.


Volleyball Help Needed

Football Gatorade Scrimmage

The Gatorade Football Scrimmage is tomorrow (Friday, August 17) at 7:00 pm. Admission to the game is a Gatorade.

Fall Sports Practices Begin

Fall sports practices for football, volleyball, cross country, and girls golf begin Monday, August 6. If any student in grades 9-12 are interested in participating during the 2518-2019 season, be sure to get a physical and contact the head coach for practice times: Football – Mark McLaughlin; Volleyball – Lonna Pickel; Cross Country – Leon Stall; and Girl Golf – Carolyn Reinertson.

Athletic Registration Night

Athletic registration is Thursday, August 2, at 7 pm in the commons.  All athletes and their parents are encouraged to attend as this is an opportunity to complete all paperwork and forms prior to the start of fall sports practices, with a notary public being available as well. Also as a reminder, no athlete may start practice without a physical form on file.

Sports Physicals Available

Click Family Healthcare will be giving sports physicals at our school in Nurse Ashley’s office on Tuesday, May 29th, from 5:30-7:30 pm for $25 cash (no billing or filing with insurance).  Athletes need to come with a parent-signed physical form which can be picked up at the high school office.  This is for all athletes who will be in 8th – 12th grade next year.  This is NOT for students who will be entering 7th grade.

Parent Advisory: Summer Activity Transportation

Parents are advised the summer sports/activity camps and league events between the dates of May 29th , 2018 and July 31st , 2018 are not school sponsored. Parents and/or students may be required to provide private transportation. However, transportation may be available through arrangements with the adult, event coordinator.

State Golf Qualifier

Congratulations to Collin Dorszynski on qualifying for the Class C Boys State Golf Tournament by finishing 10th individually with a score of 82 at the Class C-4 District Meet held at Centura on Monday. The NSAA State Championships will be held at the Kearney Country Club on Tuesday-Wednesday, May 22-23. Good luck, Collin.

State Track Qualifiers

Congratulations to the state track qualifiers: Nathan Holcomb–1600 and 3200 M. Run; Kaleb Pickel–3200 M. Run; Miranda Smith–1600 M Run; Jade Bentley, Jalyssa Gillming, Kaylee Palmieri, Miranda Smith, Parker Kenton-alternate–3200 M. Relay. The NSAA Track and Field Championships will be held Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, at Burke Stadium in Omaha. Good luck to all of the state qualifiers!
