New Dismissal Procedures For K-6 Beginning Monday

The following  information is provided to parents of all elementary students:

Gibbon Elementary will be implementing new dismissal procedures starting Monday, November 4th. These procedures will be similar to dismissal procedures in previous years with the exception that no one will be allowed to enter the building at the end of the school day.  These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all students and staff within the building at dismissal and throughout the entire school day. Please review the following procedures and discuss your “new” plan with your students.

  • All Kindergarten through 6th grade students will be walked to the Commons at the end of the day by their classroom teachers.
  • Classroom teachers will remain in the Commons until all their students are outside the school building.
  • Teachers will help direct younger students to meet/find their older siblings in the Commons or help them get to their parents outside the school building for pick-up.
  • Students riding the bus will exit the west side of the building as usual.

If you have any questions about these new dismissal procedures please call the school or contact your student’s teacher.

Thank you for helping keep the students of Gibbon Public Schools safe.
